True Grace

We're all pretty tired tonight, but here's the brief rundown for today.  Grace did great, living up to her namesake with total calm all morning, even though she didn't eat at all and had to wait an hour before we even went back for pre-op -- and we had gotten there at our scheduled time of 11:15.  She was pretty hungry.  But once she got going, she never skipped a beat.  She woke up after surgery totally calm.  She was everyone's favorite patient for the day.   The doctor said she had a lot of tonsils and especially a lot of adenoids to come out, so she should do a lot better in the long run.  For the moment, she's been switching between feeling okay most of the time and feeling really run down and nauseated other times.  Still, she's been drinking a lot and she had some strawberry ice cream for dinner.

Here's a brief photo documentary:

Pre-op, ready with hairnet, funny socks (over her hand knit red and pink ones), and Surgical Center zebra that she got to keep.

Consulting with Mommy

In the red wagon (with the zebra, and her bunny, and Lambie of course), pulled by the anesthesiologist.

A few minutes after she came out of surgery, drinking her water and getting a book read.  The pulse monitor is on her finger, and the I.V. is in her other arm.

The orange popsicle was better than the blue one.

So Mommy got to eat the blue one.

A ride in the wheelchair to the car!

I knew she'd do great! Glad it went well. Maybe you can tell me why they take the adenoids out too. I've never understood that myself.

I'm glad Grace is such a little trooper! I hope she's enjoying the popsicles and ice cream and is totally recovered soon!

I like that Grace took her Lambie to surgery with her. I got a giant Lambie from Bath and Body Works from Gavin for Valentines Day.

Yahoo Grace! And good job workin' the wheelchair service out of the hospital. I hear kids with little adenoids have to walk out. Looks like your mom did a great job taking care of you too! I'm really looking forward to seeing you in a few weeks! Let's eat some popsicles together and burp loud! Can't wait! Love, mik
